Dear MGM studios;
Recent entries into low budget cinema have yielded extremely large profit margins. Films such as “Paranormal Activity”($193,355,800) and more recently “The Last Exorcism”( $59,866,428) have earned millions at the domestic, and foreign box office.
This type of filmmaking is exactly what your company needs to invest in. They cost little to make, and earn millions. Your recent decline in revenue has made it difficult for your company to fund larger projects such as “The Hobbit”, or “Red Dawn”. What you need is a filmmaker who can create engrossing storylines that cost little money, and capture the public eye.
Within the last few years, with my limited materials I have been making short films. They have had no budget, and many have found that they provide enjoyment and humor (www.youtube.com/Gigan1960s). Due to these videos, teachers have recruited my assistance in filming a video designed to display student-working habits in a classroom environment. This was all non-profit work.
In the process I learned a lot about shooting, and editing video. If given a small sum of money and a crew these skills would apply perfectly to creating full-length movie productions. After this semester these skills will be even more impressive once I complete my video-editing course at Mohawk College.
My past employers (Kenesserie Camp), and coworkers have nothing but positive experiences with me. I am a good people person, and my knack for resourcefulness would be great for a career as a filmmaker. Independent films are the future of filmmaking, and you are one company that cannot afford to miss this opportunity.
